If SEO is important for your adult pages and blogs (and it should be definitely be!) you need a hosting enviroment that is SEO friendly. Basic things like url rewriting, multiple C class IP ranges, multiple geo locations, some Apache options like option to have php script with html ending are a must. I use all these “tricks” daily. If your hosting enviroment doesn’t have these features you might check seo enabled web hosting plans here.

For all webmasters who are into mobile niche I would suggest to try Juggcash! They convert very well on all mobile traffic. Definitely worth trying.

Why adult webmasters need laptop?

Posted by MMagery on Saturday Jan 10, 2009

Let me explain you what are benefits of laptops for adult webmasters. There are quite few but most important part of whole story is to get more time for productive work (like uploading files or submitting galleries with Chameleon Submitter). We found 8 good reasons why (if you know something else please write them here), so let’s start…

1. Stable configuration

Most laptops you can buy today are brand name, they are tested and mostly they work well for quite long periods. When you buy desktop computer in parts you need somebody with knowledge to put them together and after that there are chances that some compontents won’t work together. Brand name laptops usually have guarantee 2 or 3 years and for example HP, Toshiba and many others have support and guratantee available worldwide. Basically this allows you not to worry about hardware and technical stuff.

2. Integrated UPS

When you’re not on the road with laptop its battery is basically UPS for you. UPS which can provide you 2-3 hours of power. This feature is definitely not something to ignore. The thing is if you’re out of power your phone line isn’t (in case you have adsl router you’ll need mobile backup connection or switch to dailup modem connection) and you can keep working. You’ll definitely see how this is worth once you have something urgent to do but you can’t because they was power failure. Not to mention possible data loss and inability to use things like RAM disk due to same reasons (data loss).

3. Mobility

This is feature is pretty obvious but let me explain couple things. With laptop you’re not limited to 1 location, even if you’re not traveling anywhere you can go to other room or place where you’ll be more creative. With mobile Internet connection your working place is just limited with availability of mobile signal (of WiFi signal).

4. Data safety

Most of bussiness class laptops offer some utilites for data / disk encryption. There are software utilities for this functionality too, but those laptops have hardware which supports it and does not depend on CPU.

5. Faster operating system restore

Laptops usually come with preinstalled operating system like Windows XP or Vista. They have restore CD or DVD which allows you to restore system in case of problems or failure. In case you have separate external hard disk for your data OS restoring takes about 30 minutes in total with installation of all software tools you need. With desktop computers you would have to install OS, make restore CD yourself and test it.

6. Less noise

Desktop computers tend to make a lot of noise which can be irritating and can make you less creative. Webmastering (except video editing) is not load intensive so your main CPU fan on laptop will be mostly off.

7. Possibility to extend your desktop

All laptops allready have display and buying additional external (normal) monitor can be used for extending your work space, allowing you to have more tools open and working with. With additional monitor you can transform your laptop in normal desktop computer with big screen, normal keyboard and mouse. However all benefits listed above will still be here.

8. Power and space saving

If you’re hard working and have your fast big desktop computer turned on whole day you will have power costs which aren’t insignificant anymore. Specially during summer when they will make your working premises hotter. Laptops save space and do not need special furniture to place them. You definitely won’t place them on your floor (some people place their tower cases on floor which causes faster dust collection and possible overheating problems unless they clean them on regular basis). Mentioned overheating problem can cause hard disk failure and data loss. There are insignificant chances to get overheating problems with laptops.

Some of you could be worried about lower laptop performance. Well for webmastering Intel Core2Duos (event normal Core Duos) with clock 1.6Ghz - 2.0Ghz and 2GB ram will be definitely enough for 99% of all tasks you will be doing. Considering todays prices and how many good laptop brands are out there it’s pitty not to have all that benefits. Now check Chameleon Submitter tool, get yourself a laptop and start making some money!

Faster FTP uploading with FileZilla

Posted by MMagery on Friday Oct 10, 2008

I bet you are annoyed with slow FTP uploading speeds. You have to upload file by file and if you have hundreds of them it takes time. And it is so slow… Well there is one pretty neat trick how to make things faster.

This tutorial is for:

  • gallery submitters
  • freesite submitters
  • blog owners (updating WordPress)
  • all who need upload more than 50 files on regular basis

There is one great free FTP client for both Windows and Linux who is able to do that trick - it’s FileZilla.

So let me explain how to enable this option for uploading multiple files at once and thus getting most of your upload speed. I will use version 3.1.3.1 for this tutorial. Once you have downloaded and entered your web site details go to SETTINGS and find TRANSFERS like you can see on the image below:

filezilla-settings

Right now there are only two simultaneous transfers, I suggest you to put 7 or 9. Maybe you may need to lower this number because FTP server on other site will not allow you to make more than 5 connections at same time from single computer (in that case you will need to lower number of simultaneous transfers to 5 or 4).

In case you need hosting who allows you to use multiple simultaneous FTP connections (transfers) click here.

Chameleon Gallery Submitter database optimization

Posted by MMagery on Friday Sep 5, 2008

We will start with some useful things. There are a lot of webmasters who submit their galleries and if you are pro submiter you definitely need a tool for help. One of the most useful is for sure Chameleon Gallery Submitter.

However submitting with Chameleon Gallery Submitter can be time consuming, boring and unproductive. You will need to optimize your submit process. There are couple things you can optimize. From time you spend on manual submissions to your upload time and disk usage.

So let me explain these three TIPs.

1. Manual gallery submission

After at least 3 months of submitting you need to have statistics about sites who send you traffic. You can use Awstats (almost all hosting now offer this statistics - if your host does not have it you can always check here for hosting). This part of report is called “Links from an external page” in Awstats. Awstats is great because you can filter referer domain you want - just go to “Full List” and use filter there.

This is one of the most valuable tools we need to optimize manual gallery submissions. Once you know how many hits and visits you get from each manually submited TGP you can decide where to submit and where not to submit. With this trick you will remove all that TGPs that send you 10 clicks a month. You don’t need to waste your time for TGPs like this.

2. Reducing upload time

If you check regulary Chameleon Gallery Submitter report tab you will see there which TGPs have got your submission and which did not. You will notice that some of them have blacklisted you for some opscure reasons and some just have odd rules which is pain in the ass to match every time. Those are candidates for removal from your submit database. Removing TGPs that you can’t submit is a must because less HTML will be generated and less time will each gallery upload last.

3. Reducing disk size for gallery

There is one more great disk space saving possibility. If you check Samples tab, you will see a list of thumbnail dimensions and how much TGPs in database need that thumbnail. There can be a lot of thumbnails with 0 TGPs mapped to them. They will be generated and you will upload them if you do not remove that zero entries from that list.

You can buy Chameleon Gallery Submitter here.
